Summer Term 2018

The sun has got his hat on! This term we will be making the most of our lovely courtyard by spending lots of time on outdoor play.

We are also organizing our annual Fun Run to raise money for Playgroup. This will be in the Botanical Gardens on Saturday 30th June at 10.30am. Everyone is invited – please bring a picnic as we’re sure the children will build up an appetite with all that running and jumping. Feel free to ask for extra sponsor forms for siblings. The more, the merrier!

For many of our children, this will be their last term at Playgroup, as they are going to Big School in September. We will be helping them with essential skills to prepare for school, such as writing their names, putting on their shoes and doing up their coats.

At the end of term there will be a Leavers’ Concert to celebrate the children’s time at Playgroup and the exciting prospect of school. More details to follow.

This term sees a change in staffing. Anne is now Registered Manager and Katie Shipley, Polly’s mum, who is a teacher and has taught French to many young children’s groups over the years, will be General Manager. Feel free to come and see either us with any questions or feedback. Many thanks to Anne for holding the fort so well since we lost Sam as manager last summer.

We have free places from September, so please do spread the word!

Spring Term 2019

Fundraising – Our fundraising challenge this term is the old favourite, butterflies! The children are making butterflies from toilet rolls and yoghurt pots this week and next. We would be very grateful if you could “feed” them with any spare change and bring them back to us in the last week of this half term (w/c 11th February).

Many thanks to those parents and carers who have filled in Gift Aid forms. If you haven’t yet, it’s not too late to do so! Please see a member of staff for a form.

New initiatives this half term – Recorder club is proving very popular. We have so far been looking at rhythms and the notes B and A, and have been having a lot of noisy fun!

We are learning a new French song this half term. It’s called “Tête, Épaules, Genoux et Pieds”, which translates as “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”. We will be performing it at our summer Leavers’ Concert.

Half term – week commencing Monday 18th February. There will be no playgroup sessions that week. Looking forward to seeing you all back the following week.
